Galactic bounty hunter Corben Saark, having been unjustly imprisoned by a hostile imperialist species known as the Shoal, gets one momentary opportunity and makes the most of it. The clever hostage has managed to appropriate a damaged scout ship and, in a daring escape attempt, blasted into the unknown.

His immediate situation has presented him with several problems: his ship is full of toxic liquid, his breathing mask is cracked and leaking, he's wounded, the ship is damaged, and two Shoal military destroyers are closing in. Searching for somewhere to ditch the ship, Corben realizes the awful truth: there are no attainable planets in range. At this point, Corben is basically deciding which is the most painless way to die.
