Angels have always been fascinated by the human race, but no angel has been obsessed like the one called Gideon. His divine purpose was to thwart the spread of evil on Earth, but he felt restricted by having to work from "on high". The celestial's faith was shaken once too often by the pain, suffering and death of innocent people caused by evil in the world - especially the mayhem produced by the exiled angel known as Lucifer. While waiting for the Almighty to deal with the escalating injustices of the world, Gideon dreamed of dealing with Lucifer more harshly… and directly. As Earth's 20th century began, Gideon's patience came to an end.

In May of 1910, while the eyes of the planet were being distracted by Halley's comet, the angel descended to Earth, leaving the privileges of Heaven and halo behind. Challenging divine law by trading in his celestial inheritance for all this mortal planet had to offer, Gideon's "defection" transformed the angel from a white-winged, miracle-performing immortal, to a darker, earthbound version of his former self. Gideon's objective on Earth is to find Lucifer and put him out of action, by any means necessary. Simultaneously, he will experience first hand, if human life is worth protecting. Thus began his crusade on Earth.

God, intrigued by Gideon's conviction, has granted him 100 years - one Earth century - for his quest to tame the Devil, at which time, Gideon's fate and ours, would be determined once and for all. The ancient adversaries have clashed time and time again, but as the century draws to a close, Lucifer still roams free...
